Thailand Contracts Aria for Blimps, Communications

Aria International, Inc. recently announced a contract from the Royal Thai Army to provide in-country surveillance and communications solutions and services, for an aggregate purchase price of $9.7 million. The RTA surveillance system consists of a manned airship with military-grade imaging and communications systems, a state-of-the-art Mobile Command and Control Vehicle, and upgrades to existing communications and facilities to receive real-time surveillance data.

Army chief visits Pattani to inspect surveillance airship

Pattani - Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Anupong Paochinda visited this southern border province Friday to inspect the progress of the surveillance airship project.

Anupong visited the Pattani Taskforce in Nong Chik district at 10 am.

The surveillance balloon, which costs Bt260 million, has been recently transported to be kept at its hangar.

Worldwide Aeros Corp from the United States will hand over the airship to the Army after installing communications equipment and two sets of daytime and nighttime cameras on it. The cameras cost Bt70 million and the communication equipment costs Bt20 million.

Nein - das waren "die" Malaysier. 8)
