Shareholder initiative attempts to rescue CargoLifter
An initiative of CargoLifter shareholders named 'Zukunft in Brand' has established a trust account in order to collect enough funds to overcome the insolvency of the company. They want to provide an opportunity for shareholders and other investors to pay into the company without being exposed to the risk that the money ineffectively ends up in the insolvency.
The collected funds shall only be transferred to the company when, together with bank credits, public funds and contributions of other investors, a sum is reached which can terminate the insolvency condition, and beyond that, if an amount of 30 million euros remains to continue business operation. In this case, the depositors acquire convertible bonds of the company, which can be converted to shares as of April 2003 at a fixed price of euro 2.00. Further, if the attempt cannot be achieved before the end of 2002, the depositors shall be reimbursed of their contribution (deducted by a minor managing fee).
The initiators expect that 30 million euros will be sufficient to produce several CL-75 AirCrane transport balloons, introduce them into the market and convince the capital market of the future potential of the company's business.
